Wesley College's highlights for Academic Year 2008/2009:
- During this calendar year, Wesley College is celebrating our 20th Anniversary (February 27th.)
- Improvements of the use of technology in the learning process, including more use of PowerPoint presentations in the classroom.
- E Clement Bethel National Arts Festival Performance: This was Wesley College's first entry in the competition and the results are encouraging indeed. In fact, the judges arrived a week earlier than expected. Here is how we performed: Denton Gay - National Winner, Instrumental solo (woodwind); Boys' and Girls' Brigade Band - second place - Marching Band; Wesley College Band - Third Place, Marching Band; Wesley College Band, Second Place - Concert Band; Denton Gay - National Winner - Popular Dances (Solo).
- Completed research on Abaco's caves and blue holes; tourism and agriculture.
- Placed Second in Friends of the Environment Annual Abaco Science Fair.
- Participation of nine Wesley College students in concert with The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Band.
- Continued development of programmes for challenged/marginalised students including speech therapy, ADHD management and at-risk male students.
- Marked Improvement in the BGCSE performance, with one of our two 12th Grade candidates obtaining A's in Music and Spanish.
- Annual Summer Band Camp - in conjunction with The Abaco Foundation, the Bahamas Dance Theatre and Geogia's School of Dance. Featured traditional Bahamian dances. Culminated in one hour performance an Abaco's Independence Celebrations.
