Monday, October 29, 2008 Students and Staff of Wesley College marked the second anniversary of Wensol's untimely death.  The School Band played Wensil's song "You Raise Me Up". Reverend Carey reflected on Wensil's life and the profound way he had affected all. The students committed to beautify the roadsideapproaching Treasure Cay in his memory. It will be called Wensil's Mile. On Friday, despite heavy rain, Reverend Carey, Mr. Russell, Charles, Rodney, Jarrod and Seve began the project. They were assisted by Ronaldo McKinney a 2004 Wesley College graduate. The area was bushed and cleaned of garbage, then a yellow elder and other flowering plants were planted. The project will be on-going..

Wensil Laroda was an intelligent, fun-loving, talented Tenth Grader, with a commitment to God, and a gift for music. He was Band Captain and lead trumpeter in the Wesley College Band.

He Was a Sergeant in The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade, and a Director of the school’s 4H Club. He loved debating, and always kean to lead in Devotions.

Wensil was mature beyond his years. He got on well with everybody, and was always a joy to be around.

He was a Wesleyan. We thank God for his special way of touching our lives, and celebrate his many achievements.

He was active in the Full Gospel Assembly, and lead member of their band.

Our theme emphasizes the children of the world, and the special place God has for them in his heart. Jesus said: “Let the children come unto me.”

The Wesley Angels lost one of our own in September, and our presentation is dedicated to him.

Our banner is preceded by a host of cherubim. These choreographed dancers express praise to God, and represent the innocence and purity of God’s children.

The focal point on the banner is a figure of Jesus, surrounded by the archangels. In the foreground, the world floats in the cosmos. Above the cosmos Wensil, flanked by Uriel and Raphael, provide the power by which God’s chariot-throne is able to fly. These angels are also equipped with trumpets to announce the Lord’s approach. The figure of Jesus is flanked by Gabriel, “revealer of the future”, and Michael, who leads the battle against the forces of evil. Raguel and Remiel hover behind the throne.

The brass section uses familiar songs like “All hail King Jesus”, “Magesty”,  “Lamb of God” to announce the Lord’s approach and call the world to recognize the glory, majesty, and rule of God.

Wensil was mature beyond his years. He got on well with everybody, and was always a joy to be around.  He accomplished more in his thirteen years than the average Bahamian does in thirty.

His spirit lives in all of us. He lives in our smiles as we recall his jokes and pranks. He lives in the lessons imparted to others. Every member of this band has been impacted by Wensil’s life.

He lives in our music. We are dedicating “You raise me up”, to Wensil. Whenever we play it, it will be in his honour.

He was a Wesleyan. We thank God for his special way of touching our lives. We celebrate his achievements, and hail him as a young hero.

Funeral Services for Dominic Dawkins, former Head Prefect and graduate of Wesley College, were held at Change Ministries, Murphy Town, Abaco Bahamas, on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The Wesley College/Brigade Band paid a musical tribute, starting at 10:30 a.m. Tributes were also rendered by the Reverend Charles Carey, Principal, and Mr. Justin McDonald, CPA, Former Head Prefect.

Mr. Dawkins died in hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Our sincere condolences are extended to his family.
